How do I bleed a radiator?

Here's some super simple, step-by-step instructions on how to bleed your radiator:

Step one

Turn your heating off and wait for the radiator to go cold.

Step two

At one end of the radiator (always at the top), there’ll be a valve you need to attach a bleed key to.

Step three

If air is escaping you should hear a hissing sound.

Step four

Wait until this stops and water is coming out. Remember to catch any drips.

Step five

Tighten up the bleed valve again, but don’t over-tighten.

Step six

Check your boiler pressure (re-pressurising it if needed) and turn your heating back on and your radiator should be working again properly.
